A lot of cleaners smell strong when you first apply them, but soon dissipate. Not this, though. It smells so obnoxious that I couldn't get to sleep the night I started using it.
If there was an unscented version, I would go for that. It seems like it would easily keep my toilet clean, but I'm not going to wait to find out. Two days later, and the smell is no weaker. The goo is getting scraped off tonight!

I've been using this for over a year now! And I have to say that it's about the best toilet product ever invented! Before these came along, I was using the blue drop ins that go in the tank, (I still do from time to time because growing up, the toilet water was ALWAYS blue and it just doesn't seem right when it's not! lol) It's easy to put together, I guess even more so for me because I use it regularly. You have to keep in mind that using this does NOT replace having to clean your toilet! If you're looking for something like that, I believe it's called a MAID! I only use the Fresh Clean scent because my husband made the mistake of getting the citrus scent once when I sent him shopping with a list and I honestly wanted to hurl with the "citrus" scent. Normally I love anything that smells citrus-y but not this! I honestly think that scent was a major MISS, but that's my own opinion. The Fresh Clean scent is perfect. The nay-sayers who claim the smell takes over their whole house must live in a place no larger than a jail cell because I've honestly NEVER had that problem and since we only have the one bathroom, the toilet lid stays up and the door open and it's not until I am right at the toilet that I even slightly smell it. The strongest it's ever been is while flushing and when I first put it in, but as soon as I step away from the toilet, I don't even really smell it anymore. The ones that say it's "overpowering" must have super sensitive noses as my husband does, but even he says he can't smell it until he's at the toilet! You do have to clean your toilet weekly, I usually wait for the gel to dissolve completely because I made the mistake of scrubbing when there was just a slight smear of it left in the bowl once and it got all in my toilet scrubber's bristles and I had to wash it out afterwards, but no big deal - a lesson learned, right? But once it's all gone, I swish my toilet brush around the bowl and we have city water which is really hard water, but with these it stops the build up of minerals in our toilet for the most part. Before these, I was having to clean the toilet every other day because there was this ugly orange stain where the water had sat in the bowl. Now the stains only happen about the 5th day and NEVER get as bad as they were! Honestly if I could, I would give this product 100 stars because it has been a time and money saver for my household! And I love the scent renewing itself every time you flush because let's just say my hubby has a problem in the stink area after he "unloads". lol And this completely takes care of that!! I never thought anything would, but these do and that alone makes them well worth the $3 I pay in the store for them! I even was trying out the clip-on scent "cleaners" that go on the side and under the toilet seat. Those things were nasty and never did anything! The scent with those was usually gone after day 1, if it even lasted that long! And this toilet gel last around 5-7 days, depending on how much use we give the toilet. Super easy to apply, just stick the end where the gel comes out against the toilet, push the button and move it forward one "click" and I usually give it a quick spin and all the gel comes off the end of the dispenser! None leftover that gets stuck to the cap! I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to clean their toilet just once a week like I do! This will definitely help you!

I'm glad I didn't look this stuff up on here and read reviews about it before trying it out. It keeps the toilet pretty clean, and saves me the trouble of having to scrub it out. I had major back surgery a few months ago, so that's a big plus for me. The smell is pretty strong, but it dissipates after a day or so to where I don't notice it anymore. I use it once every three to four weeks, as we don't have a high traffic bathroom.

I actually received this item in a contest, so I did not purchase it here. I've used this product for about a month so far and I haven't noticed the toilet being any cleaner. In fact, I think I may have cleaned it more often than before. It does not clean the top of the toilet, nor does it help it stay clean. The smell is a bit overpowering, although that is definitely not my main issue with the product. It simply does not work as well as I thought it would. I'd say it might help the toilet stay cleaner for a couple days after scrubbing it, but honestly, it's just not worth it to me. I would suggest trying to find another product to help keep the toilet clean, this one just doesn't cut it.

It's important to note that this is a gel that is being squeezed from a tube and has the consistency of gel toothpaste. Pressing the plunger does not pop out a neat little "disk" of the gel like the commercial shows. Instead I had to keep pushing it against the bowl of the toilet just to get it off the dispenser, effectively using up two of the six applications to make a line of glop across the bowl of my toilet.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the smell? Ohmigod it could knock you over! The entire top floor of my house smells like a Porta Potty. I don't know that I can survive the week until it wears off, so I'll likely have to get in there and scrape it out.
I'm definitely not using this product again.
